Presidential Determination

Determination Pursuant to Section 2(c)(1) of the Migration and Refugee Assistance Act of 1962, as Amended

President George W. Bush authorized up to $25 million from the U.S. Emergency Refugee and Migration Assistance Fund to address urgent refugee and migration needs from a new exodus of refugees from Afghanistan following the September 11 attacks. The Secretary of State is directed to notify Congress and arrange for Federal Register publication.
